Relationships with parents, co-parents, siblings, and friends can bring closeness, loyalty, grief, and uncertainty all at once. You may be navigating recurring conflict, changing roles, or a boundary that is difficult to hold.

Business partnerships can matter deeply, too. Shared work depends on trust, communication, and the ability to make decisions together. Differences about roles, priorities, or direction can strain both the partnership and the work you are trying to build.

Relational therapy is for the relationships that matter, no matter what names they go by. You can come individually to understand how you show up in a relationship, or come together with the other person or people. Either way, we can explore the patterns between you and practice new ways of relating.

Relationships we can explore

The process

How therapy can help

Like couples counseling, relational therapy is systemic work: we look at how each person’s experiences, expectations, and responses shape the pattern between them. This work also welcomes non-romantic relationships, including family, friends, and business partners.

You can come together to understand the pattern, communicate more clearly, and make room for a different way of relating. If the other person cannot attend or you want to start on your own, individual sessions can help you understand how you show up and what you want to change.

The process

Working through differences with a business partner

A business relationship can hold shared purpose, long hours, important decisions, and real differences in how each person wants to move forward. When disagreements repeat, it can become harder to hear one another and protect the trust that makes collaboration possible.

Therapy can give you room to understand the pattern, consider the other person’s perspective without losing your own, and practice clearer conversations about what matters. Both business partners can and are encouraged to attend together.

The process

What to expect

You can come individually or invite the other person or people in the relationship to attend with you. We can clarify who will join and what you hope to work on in a consultation. Sessions are offered in person in Boulder and by telehealth throughout Colorado.

Questions, answered

Frequently asked questions

Can we come to therapy together if we are not a couple?

Yes. Relational therapy welcomes people in family, friendship, co-parenting, and business relationships to attend together. We can talk about who you want to bring and what you hope to work on.

Can a family member or friend join a session?

Yes. You can bring a family member, friend, business partner, or another person who matters to you. Relational therapy makes room for the people in the system you want to understand together.

Can therapy help if the other person will not attend?

Yes. We can still do relational work individually. We can explore your experience in that relationship, notice patterns, and consider how you want to show up, even if the other person does not attend.

Can therapy help with differences with a business partner?

Yes. Business partners are welcome and encouraged to attend together to understand recurring dynamics, communicate more clearly, and work through differences. Individual sessions are also an option.
